3 Things You Need to Know in Marketing This Week

GroupM’s 2022 Forecast: 6.2% Advertising Growth in Australia.

GroupM released its annual Global end of year forecast. Australia Chief Investment Officer, Seb Rennie, said the market can reflect on a year of “incredibly positive growth” of 21.5%.

"Pure digital and digital extensions of traditional media have seen the largest growth reflecting the changing media consumption habits of consumers, the diversification and growth of eCommerce channels and the growth of business rooted in the internet economy.’’

"Whilst not reaching the heights of the US, China and UK who are leading the global growth; 2022 will bring the Australian media sector more moderate, but positive, growth at 6.2% with a continuation of digital trends from 2021 and the post lockdown release of pent up demand for OOH and Cinema.”

An article by Mediaweek quoted IMAA General Manager Sam Buchanan: “The IMAA Pulse Survey results demonstrate that our members have been able to snap back quickly from lockdowns and the economic effects of the pandemic to achieve growth and great successes for their clients.”

“It’s a sign of good things to come in 2022 – we know many agencies are planning on investing in additional staff and expect media spend to increase so I’m excited for the year ahead and what it’s going to bring for independent media agencies across the country.”

Apple Announced its 15 Annual Award Winners.

For over a decade, Apple has been awarding the best apps and games on the App Store, across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV and Apple Watch. To select the winners, the company uses a series of criteria. In Apple's own words, ‘We put a focus on technical innovation, user experience, and design. Then we considered the impact these apps had on our lives.’

Some of the winners are ‘iPhone App of the Year: Toca Life World’, ‘iPhone Game of the Year: League of Legends: Wild Rift’ and ‘iPad App of the Year: LumaFusion.’

In the category ‘Trend of 2021: Apps that brought us together’, Apple selected:

  • Among Us!
  • Canva
  • Peanut
  • Bumble
  • EatOkra

According to TechCrunch,What’s interesting about this year’s group of winners is the subtle statement Apple is making with its editorial picks. For instance, Toca Boca — which has produced more than 40 kids’ apps to date and celebrated its 10-year anniversary this year — is a reminder that developers are building long-term businesses on the App Store and Apple helped play a role in supporting that success.’
