Google title change to the search results explained.

''For the past few weeks, Google told us it was using the designated HTML title tag 80% of the time. But, on Friday, the company said it is using as-is title tags 87% of the time, a seven-point increase'', Barry Schwartz described in an article last week.

To explain this change, Schwartz quotes Google's statement: ''We’ve used text beyond title elements in cases where our systems determine the title element might not describe a page as well as it could. Commercial radio advertising has continued to rise in August. The industry's body, CRA, reported a total revenue of $49.7 million across the five major markets, compared to $42.5 last year.

The story featured in Mumbrella quotes Ben Willee, General Manager and Media Director at Spinach, on these figures: “Early on in the pandemic, there was a lot of chatter about the radio ad revenue and impact of a reduction in commuters. Most of this chatter was incorrect. Independent research tells us people are still consuming audio but in different ways. Streaming, podcasts, smart devices, the list goes on.”
